Volunteers are the backbone of every successful hockey program. They ensure teams run smoothly, provide a safe and organized environment for players, and support coaches in delivering a great experience for everyone involved.

Locker Room Monitor

Role Summary: The Locker Room Monitor is responsible for ensuring a safe, respectful, and appropriate environment in and around the team’s locker room before, during, and after games and practices.

Key Responsibilities: Supervise the locker room during designated times. Ensure that team members are behaving appropriately and following team rules and codes of conduct. Maintain a safe and inclusive environment, free from bullying, harassment, or inappropriate behavior. Support the coaching staff in managing transitions between the locker room, the ice, and other team activities. Ensure no unauthorized individuals enter the locker room area. Comply with all relevant Safe Sport policies.

Requirements: Must be background-checked and Safe Sport certified. Must be a responsible adult (not a minor or current player). Should demonstrate good judgment, discretion, and the ability to calmly manage sensitive situations.

Team Manager

Role Summary: The Team Manager acts as the primary administrative support for the team, helping to coordinate logistics, communication, and team operations throughout the season.

Key Responsibilities: Serve as the main communication link between coaches, parents, players, and the league or association. Organize and distribute team schedules, including practices, games, tournaments, and events. Coordinate travel plans, hotel bookings, and team meals when needed. Assist with game sheets, and league paperwork. Help schedule scorekeepers, timekeepers, and locker room monitors. Support the coaching staff so they can focus on player development and on-ice performance.

Requirements: Strong organizational and communication skills. Basic computer proficiency (email, spreadsheets, scheduling apps). Willingness to attend team meetings and league/association briefings as required. Familiarity with team and league rules is a plus.

Volunteering with a hockey team is a rewarding way to stay involved in the game, support youth development, and build strong community connections. Whether helping behind the scenes or supervising players directly, every volunteer plays a vital role in the success of the team.
